Thoughts and sights

Mind your manners.

Marleen Jansen is much more than a designer, her table below is testament to that. Using a see-saw principle, it's impossible to leave dinner before the other person without dumping them or ruining their meal, personally I think it's a great idea. It's a marvelous way to focus on your meal-time break as I think we forget just how many things distract us from pleasant conversation and the enjoyment of food together. Just make sure the salt is on the table first.

We are social

Great site on the real impact social media advertising, and social media in general is or isn't having.

The Agency is a very, very bad word

Wow, sheesh, and wow again. The vitriol on the link above is fairly spectacular, although highly unsurprising in the advertising realm. Once again it's sad testament to the bravado anonymity provides some people, and yet there's probably a fair bit of truth in some of the comments. At the end of the day it's a funny read, and anyone mentioned therein hopefully has bucket-loads of salt at hand.

Switched off

Nice work nastiness.

A friend of mine shipped her sister Louise Evans to intern with us at Saatchi not so long ago and it was so amazing to see someone so full of passion and excitement. It's so easy for people in the industry to slam youngsters when really, to be honest, I think half the time they envy them that energy and creativity they once had themselves before the 100th pitch wore them down, or they realised they'll never write that book or open that gallery. Anyway, to the point. Lou signed up with Y&R and popped up on the radar with this nice idea for the Rugby World Cup. Now, whether some of the comments are valid or not I won't get into, what I will say however is that maybe certain people could spend less time commenting on other people's work and more time getting their work in the spotlight themselves.

TED talk. Getting closer to Star Wars every day, live on through Social Media after you die.

The first half is fairly boring but sets up a really creepy/amazing idea about digital regeneration.
